Antigua, Guatemala

Following a wonderful few days spent exploring Lake Atitlan, the second half of my week in Guatemala was spent in the beautiful city of Antigua, hiking volcanoes, touring coffee farms and eating great food.

On my last morning I had a major film loading mishap, on a morning walk through the beautiful streets of this city on my final day, I shot what I thought at the time was some of ‘my best work’!

But as the number shots ticked past 36 on my camera and I could still ‘wind’ the film on, I had a horrible feeling that all was not well inside the Pentax.

A few banger shots later and the roll of film seemed to be never ending, there was of course a good reason for that, in my sleepy, excited state to get out and shoot that morning I hadn’t loaded the film correctly and had effectively shot 38 plus exposures on a single frame!

No time to reload and retrace my steps, it was time for a grumpy breakfast and to check out.

Hopefully this mistake is one I won’t be repeating anytime soon, however it has made me appreciate the photos I did get a little bit more.

Here are a few moments I did manage to capture before my film loading mishap, taken on the Pentax ME Super with Kodak ColorPlus (click on the photos below to see full size and to scroll through).

I hope you enjoy!
