A wander through St Mary’s

Sat waiting for the train at Parkway, the weather was a mix of blue skies and light cloud, I decided to load up my Mamiya 645 1000s with a roll of Kodak Gold 120 leaving the Ilford HP5 in the bag, by the time I reached Southampton I was regretting that choice. As I departed the train at Central I was greeted with dark skies and a light drizzle in the air!

For the first 30 minutes or so photography was a bit of struggle, but fortunately the sun made an appearance for the second half of the walk.

I thought I knew the area pretty well, as the walk from the train station to St Mary’s stadium is a well trodden path for me on match days however leader of the walk Tom Westbury took us via some hidden gems which I plan to revisit on a brighter day or maybe just with a faster film stock to make the most of some of the spots.

This was another very enjoyable morning spent meeting new people and chatting photography. It’s always fascinating to see the photos that others in the group come away with when presented with the same scenes.

Here’s a few frames from the September SCUL Collective x London Camera Exchange Civic photowalk. I hope you enjoy! (click on the photos below to see full size and to scroll through, if you like).
